Vision 2040 Limited, a company registered under the companies’ act (V2040) owns and operates the interactive website https://srilankanworld.com and its mobile-friendly website interface (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Platform” or “Sri Lankan World/SLW”)
We want you to know that your privacy is important to us and to protect the Personal Data of any person who registers on or accesses for informational purposes, we hereby provide this notice explaining our privacy practices for the collection, storage, usage and protection of your Personal Data. The procedure for handling and securing the Personal Data shall be governed by this Privacy Policy. For this Policy, the use of terms like “we”, “us” and “ours” refers to Sri Lankan World Platform and the terms “you” and “your” refers to any natural or legal person who browses through the Platform or avails our Services.

It also describes the choices available to you regarding our use of your Personal Information and how you can access and update this information. This policy applies to all/any user accessing or availing the services on the Platform and does not apply to the practices of third-party providers that we do not own, control, employ or manage.

Purpose Of Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Notice aims to give you information on how SLW collects and processes your personal data through your use of SLW website and connected services (the website and connected services are collectively referred to as “Platform” in this Privacy Policy) The Platform is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

Data Collection of Personal Information.

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which includes identity information, profile data and contact details. Technical Data includes your geo location, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access the Platform.

We receive and store any information you provide to us when you create an account, publish content, or fill any online form on our Platform.

If You Fail To Provide Personal Data.

Where we need to collect personal data by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to offer the services that we aim to. In this case, we may have to cancel the service you have with us but we will notify you if this is the case at the time.

Data Retention And Deletion

You are able to delete certain Personal Information we have about you. The Personal Information you can delete may change as the Platform or Services change. When you delete Personal Information, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised Personal Information in our records for the duration necessary to comply with our obligations to our affiliates and partners, and for the purposes described below.   1. Web Analytics: We use other service providers to monitor and use our Platform to track and report traffic on the Platform; thereby, the web analytics service provider is under strict confidentiality obligations, who will use the collected data to contextualize and personalize advertisements.
  2. Behavioural Remarketing: Sri Lankan World uses remarketing services to advertise on our websites to you after you use our Platform. We use cookies to inform, optimize and serve ads based on your past usage of our Platform.

Google Analytics – These service providers use the sort of technology previously described in the “Cookies and other electronic technologies” section to help us analyse how users use the Services, and provide certain features to you. The information (including your IP address) collected by the technology will be disclosed to or collected directly by our service provider, who use the information to evaluate your use of the Services. This information may be used to place interest-based advertisements on the Platform.

Accessing Your Personal Information

Users have the right to request a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. To make a request, please email or write to us at the address at the end of this policy. You do not have to pay us a fee to access your personal information unless we believe your access request is unfounded, repetitive or excessive. In this case we may charge you a reasonable fee to access your personal information or we may decide not to comply with your request and will notify you if this is the case.

Eligibility.

A person needs to be 18 years of age or older to be eligible to use the Services. The Services are not intended for persons under the age of 18. We and the Platform require that only persons of that age or older use the Services. By using the Services, the visitors hereby represent that they are at least 18 years old. If we become aware of a visitor under the age of 18, we will make reasonable efforts to promptly delete that visitor’s information.

In the event we go through a business transition, such as a merger or acquisition or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your user account, and Personal Information will likely be among the assets transferred.

Retention Of Information.

We will retain and use your Personal Information for the period necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In the event we become aware that the security of the Platform has been compromised or users Personal Information has been disclosed as a result of external activity, including, but not limited to, security attacks or fraud, we reserve the right to take reasonably appropriate measures, including, but not limited to, investigation and reporting, as well as notification to and cooperation with law enforcement authorities. Changes And Amendments.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in our discretion and will notify you of any material changes to the way in which we treat Personal Information. When changes are made, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page.
